Reinforced concrete structure is the most widely used structural form in civil engineering today. The structure has the advantages of high strength, good durability, and good integrity. However, due to the influence of various factors such as design, construction and use, the structure will not meet the predetermined functional requirements. In order to restore its proper function, reinforcement and reinforcement are required.


The application of fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) to reinforce reinforced concrete structures is a new reinforcement technology. FRP material has the advantages of light weight, good corrosion resistance, good flexibility, and convenient construction. It has the advantages of short construction period, low investment and high efficiency when used for structural reinforcement. Commonly used fiber materials include carbon fiber composite materials CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymers) and glass fiber composite materials GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymers). Carbon fiber composites have high tensile strength and elastic modulus, and low elongation, which is an ideal reinforcement material. The mechanical properties of glass fiber composites are relatively poor, but the price is cheap.


Experiment: carbon fiber reinforced column, glass fiber reinforced column, get the following conclusion



1) The reinforced concrete column is wrapped and reinforced with FRP, which can improve the bearing capacity and ultimate compressive strain of the column. The increase in load-bearing capacity and compressive strain increases with the increase of FRP restraint capacity. The increase in load-bearing capacity and compressive strain of columns reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer is significantly greater than that of columns reinforced with glass fiber.


2) Reinforced concrete columns reinforced with FRP can improve the ductility and failure mode of the columns. Among them, the performance improvement of the columns reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer is more significant.


3) The investment required to increase the unit bearing capacity of the carbon fiber reinforced column is relatively large, that is, the cost performance is relatively low. In the actual reinforcement project, the corresponding reinforcement materials can be selected according to the requirements for the improvement of the bearing capacity, the requirements for the improvement of the deformation capacity and the capital conditions. If the main purpose is to improve the bearing capacity, glass fiber cloth can be used for reinforcement. If the ductility is higher, carbon fiber reinforced polymer should be used for reinforcement.
