1) Structural deformation
The elastic modulus of carbon fiber cloth and steel plate is basically the same, but the tensile capacity of carbon fiber cloth is 8 times that of steel plate. Therefore, when the structure of the building deforms greatly, it is recommended to adopt the reinforcement method of sticking carbon fiber cloth. If the deformation capacity is small and the bearing capacity of building components differs greatly, in order to reduce the stress hysteresis and ensure the full performance of the material, the priority is to use bonded steel reinforcement.

If the bending resistance of the two is the same, the deflection and crack width of the bonded steel reinforcement is smaller than that of the bonded carbon fiber cloth reinforcement.
3) The impact of strengthening the environment
If the structure is in a humid corrosion reinforced environment, it is recommended to use carbon fiber cloth, because the corrosion resistance of carbon fiber cloth is much better than that of steel.
